Its here at last, the new season starts today and so do our tips.
Manchester united v Tottenham Hotspur – home win.
United were in form at home last season and beat Spurs 3 -0 in March and although Spurs only lost 6 times away last season I still suspect United will edge it. Based on last season’s evidence this game should have plenty of goals in it. 27 of Spurs’ 38 Premier League games saw 3 or more goals last season – the most in the top flight – as did 21 of United’s. consider a punt for both teams to score or more than 2.5 goals.
Bournemouth v Aston Villa – over 2.5 goals.
Bournemouth scored more goals in the championship last season than any side in the last nine years. Aston Villa have also strengthened their attacking line-up during the transfer window making this fixture a prime candidate for a bet of over 2.5 goals. Callum Wilson is Bournemouth’s main attacking threat having netted 20 goals last season – consider a punt as anytime scorer.
Everton v Watford – home win.
Everton have made few signings over the summer and overall had a relatively poor season last year, Watford on the other hand have made 10 new signings and at this stage are very much an unknown quantity. The smart money is on a home win, but you can get good odds on Watford starting the season with an upset – it could well be worth a punt.
Leicester v Sunderland – draw.
Leicester and Sunderland have all the hallmarks of a draw but don’t expect many goals so perhaps under two goals could be a good call here.
Norwich v Crystal Palace – over 2.5 goals.
Norwich are back and Crystal Palace under Alan Pardew look set for a good season, this fixture looks like it might produce plenty of goals, consider going for over 2.5 goals.
Chelsea v Swansea – home win.
At this stage of the season there is only one way to go with this fixture – home win. Oscar scored twice against Swansea back in January and clearly knows how to find a way past the visitors’ defence, consider a punt for him to score anytime.
Arsenal West Ham – home win.
Arsenal have out scored West Ham by almost 4:1 in their last six premier league meetings, also consider an over 2.5 goals punt.
Newcastle v Southampton – draw.
Stoke City v Liverpool – draw.
Stoke beat Liverpool 6 – 1 last season but there is not much chance of that happening again. However, Stoke are a tough team to beat at home so good bet here will be a draw. Liverpool scored one of the highest percentages of goals in the second half last season and Stoke one of the lowest, consider a 0 – 0 at half time.
West Brom v Manchester City – away win.
Man City usually start the season very strongly so expect an away win, but probably with a margin of 2 to 3 goals making an over 2.5 goals a good punt.
